gardens by the bay

Melvin intro-ed me to this! I like it, thanks~!

//hold my hand, just in case

Went to the STAR concert yesterday at Gardens by the Bay! It’s really pretty there :3 Can’t wait to walk around the Supertrees and go into the conservatories.

Closer shot of the Supertrees!

The people looked so tiny walking on it.

There was a carnival going on~ There was free cotton candy and ice cream but the queue was crazy. So.. gave it a miss D:

You could also have a caricature drawn for $15! Or……. you could…

Be on the front page!!! :D

There a couple of cosplayers around too! Totally forgot there was a cosplay event on and got a little freaked out by this dude with white fingernails and some horror getup =_= By the time I got there most of the cosplayers left already I guess. So I didn’t see any familiar character ><

Guy on stilts! I must say the music and everything was a nice touch. :D

Side activities like these:

You have to cycle in order to generate electricity for your snapshot to be taken.

Many families attended the event! Some brought dogs, some brought little kids with bikes. There were also tweens and teens with guitars! Leelee and I bought food and sat on the rolling grass of meadows while waiting for Ovid to appear!

Met Oli, Hannah, Siswo, Yixiang, Weijie, Liangwei! Then we collected our goodie bags- there was Corntos, corn chips, umbrella and various flyers in it. Not forgetting a long styrofoamy (I don’t know what this material is called.) light stick!

)

Ovid, Me & Si Min!!~

Kicking off the night’s performances was Boys Like Girls with The Great Escape!

(Picture from ST)

Didn’t take photos during the perfs so stealing some from ST. Martin’s vocals really impressed me I didn’t expect such quality! I only own a BLG first album- have the tracks of the second but not very familiar with it. Thankfully the band was aware that most people were more familiar with their older stuff- so they played Five Minutes To Midnight, Thunder, Hero/Heroine (my favourite song!) a couple of newer ones like She’s Got A Boyfriend Now and closed with Love Drunk. I can see that they’re kinda disappointed by the response - probably played more energetic crowds. Well you can’t blame this crowd- a mix of families sprawled on the lawn on picnic mats- tweens in the front, fanboys there for 4 Minute- it really is a curious mix of fans.

Well anyway I enjoyed myself :>

After BLG Taufik came to perform! Started off with a sleek song, Addicted (watch an old perf here haha) with nifty dance moves while in a suit. Mmm. Channelling typical Usher R&B style! Taufik is really the cutest out of the Idol winners. His voice was good and he hit all the right notes! I thought he put up a good performance. Thumbs up!

Next up was Hady… whom I was less impressed with haha. Vocals and presentation wise Taufik wins hands down! Hady was more energetic but also a bit more ego while Taufik came across more sincere as a performer. Then we had Tanya! who performed many songs, mostly from her new album. Honestly a little let down here- she developed this strange accent D:

I am damn sure of this cause she sang one of her old chinese songs and it didn’t have this strange tone!!!! D: Everyone got a little restless though- she must have sang like 6-7 songs. She ended off with a medley of Umbrella (some dude promptly opened the free umbrella) & Poker Face. Kinda dated but familiar songs for a cover.

Next up was Juz B, the acapella band! I liked their performance it was entertaining and sassy. The frontman was hilarious. “I’m actually blushing but you can’t tell, I’m brown”. LOL. And lots of on stage presence! The beatboxer was damn busy lol. They covered One Republic’s Secrets and We Are Young. Got the crowd happy.

Next was the highlight of the night- 4 Minute. Not like I’m a fan but okay lol. The crowd finally awoke from its slumber and activated their vocal chords and started screaming. The fanboys started going crazy and making heartshapes at the members. Who were sexy and pretty. Dance moves were tight- vocals not so much I kinda cringed sometimes. ><

4 Minute’s encore, Huh. ( yeah huh I didn’t know the title until I saw it on the papers today)

After the show~!

Oli and I and my bright blue lightstick which I found on the floor. My previous one was red and weak so I abandoned it.

Siswo and I! My old friend heheh been duper long since I’ve met him! He used to sit behind me in class hahaha :>

Had fun nonetheless!!! Would totally come back to the Gardens- once more in the day to visit the conservatories and also at night to stare at the stars :>

Thanks for the beautiful night girls :)
